Fellow dippers gather with Janis McGrory who held a photo of her daughter for the group photo before Tuesday’s Dip for Liz. Harwich resident Janis McGrory made her 42nd dip in chilly water off Red River Beach in South Harwich Tuesday for the fifth Dip for Liz. Jan. 6 marks the anniversary of the 2011 passing of her daughter, Elizabeth LeFort, who died of a heroin overdose. She was 23-year-old. Since November, McGrory has been making her dips as a way to honor her daughter’s life and also to fundraise for Behavioral Health Innovators which serves the Cape’s youth and young adults. Behavioral Health Innovators is a network of support to identify, circumvent and address mental health and substance use issues. This is the fifth year that McGrory has done her Dips for Liz.
