Our Mission

BHI provides a continuum of programs, from prevention to recovery, to address the gap in services for Cape Cod’s youth and young adults who are living with substance use disorder and related mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. Programs are designed to empower them to reach their full potential in life.

Our Vision

We envision a society where youth and young adults struggling with substance use and mental health challenges are accepted, supported, and have access to a comprehensive continuum of care from prevention through recovery.

Why

At BHI, we believe that both preventing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and creating a path of recovery, particularly for youth and young adults, is possible with peer-to-peer and therapeutic support.

Guiding Principles

  • We believe programs should exist that serve the 13–24-year-old population facing substance use disorder, anxiety, and depression.
  • We believe co-creating programming with teens for teens is essential to the success of our programming.
  • We believe amplifying the voice of teens is critical to other teens “hearing” the message of prevention and recovery, while reducing the stigma associated with substance use.
  • We value our trusted partners who are essential to fulfilling our mission.
  • We believe in convening and collaborating with industry partners, rather than competing.
  • We strive to be representative in terms of race, gender, and lived experience within our Board, staff, and service providers.
  • We will ensure the long-term sustainability of BHI by operating with financial transparency, collaboration, and sound business practices.
  • We are all in this together.
