Cape Teens Rising

Where Teens Reset, Grow, and Flourish

Cape Teens Rising, formerly Alternative Peer Group (APG), is a FREE 6-month program for Cape Cod teens facing substance use challenges which is offered through a partnership between Duffy Health Center and Behavioral Health Innovators.

During twice-weekly sessions, teens talk with peers facing similar challenges, form supportive connections, and learn helpful ways to handle the obstacles they encounter. With guidance from a therapist, recovery coach, and peer support staff, teens in the Cape Teens Rising program are encouraged to grow, build confidence, and achieve their goals. The program is designed to help teens achieve their goals and celebrate successes along the path to recovery.

How to Join the Program

  • Open to teens 13-17 years old with a history of substance use.
  • Referrals can come from schools, caregivers, health care providers, counselors, community-based organizations, families, or self-referral.
  • Groups meet twice weekly in Dennis (Tues/Thurs) and Falmouth (Mon/Wed).

Our team operates from a multiple pathways of recovery lens, including harm reduction. Our multidisciplinary team provides the following supports;

Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Works directly with teens in the program through group treatment, the creation of individualized treatment plans, as well engaging participants through individual sessions.

Recovery Coach

The Recovery Coach is a certified staff member who identifies as a person in recovery. The Recovery Coach works individually with participants on creating a wellness plan and recovery goals. These engagements are provided one on one outside of group activities.

Peer Support Staff

Offers support to the teen’s family unit and caregivers through family sessions, connections to resources and monthly caregiver support groups.

There is no cost whatsoever to participants and their caregivers.
